How to exhaust yourself

To sum up the past week: rain on as many days as I've heard people speaking Dutch (it's as if there is a tunnel from Holland to NZ), three punctures caused by mysterious forces, Maori using hot springs to cook, falling out of a plane and jamming an ATM (one of these was planned), and meeting people with the craziest stories of how they got here (a girl flying into Auckland without knowing what to do, seeing someone assemble his bike, and deciding to cycle through the country, or a guy quitting his job and flying out 5 days later with no plans). Compared to those people I really planned my trip well, and all I did was book my flights.

I'm pretty tired as we speak (uphills and headwind...) and I'm going to try and wake up in time to catch the 7am (that's dinner time for you!) shuttle to the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, supposedly one of the most beautiful day hikes around. Then it's off to Wellington and I should be on the South Island by the end of the week. That's where the real fun will begin (weather permitting).

Also sorry for the people who really want to read this in Dutch, but I'm tired and it's getting harder to think in my mother tongue.

Heya kiddo,

Driving on a jazzy cloud you passed my mind for a sec. You'd better be singing your bike through the picturesque landscapes because we've got a lot of catching up to do when you're ready to dive back into the dusty benches;)
